Progress
Either a page is going to load or it isn’t. Even if you have a page that has only loaded partially but because of a slow network connection or a remote server isn’t spitting back the rest of the page, a progress bar isn’t going to give you any indication as to what is actually going on.

The Boot Camp 2.1 Update and Multiple Display Adapters
I’ve been having issues revolving around the Boot Camp 2.1 update for Windows XP for the Macs that I keep happy at work. Boot Camp would fail when attempting to auto update through Apple Software Update, and the same would result from trying the ‘download only’ option. It didn’t really matter how I tried to to install the 2.1 update, because the end result was always in the for of this message:
“The installer encountered errors before Boot Camp could be configured”
The information in event viewer wasn’t much help, other than pointing to Boot Camp Services and an error number that leads nowhere.
After some more digging on Google I stumbled across this seemingly anonymous blog posting on Android Bits:
I have been trying to install Boot Camp 2.1 ever since it has been released…Spent another hour or so trying out different things…then I noticed I have two Live Mesh video adapters installed. As the last resort, I uninstalled the two video adapters and restarted the BC 2.1 upgrade for the Nth time. Wala, it worked!! Everything went smoothly, after the reboot, I have BC 2.1. Windows XP Sp3 is next to be installed!This information led me to my own eureka moment…
